When I was in high school, the world seemed to tell me that college was the only path to success. I knew early on that college wasn’t for me, but I also didn’t see any other clear options. My family had been involved in underground construction since my grandfather’s time, and while my father had built a successful career in the industry, even he encouraged me to pursue college, influenced by societal expectations.

 

What I didn’t see back then—and what so many young people today still don’t see—is that underground construction can offer a stable, high-paying, and rewarding career for those willing to work hard and apply themselves. I was fortunate enough to break into the industry because of my family’s legacy, starting as a laborer just three days after graduating high school. Over the next decade, I worked my way up—becoming a pipelayer, then a foreman and superintendent by the age of 25, and eventually founding my own underground construction company, Legend Pipeline, at the age of 28.

 

At 29 years old, I’m living proof that success doesn’t always require a college degree. Through hard work, determination, and a relentless commitment to learning, I’ve built a career and life that I’m proud of. I know what it feels like to be uncertain about your future, and I’m here to show young adults that they have options. My journey wasn’t easy, but it was worth it—and now I want to make it easier for the next generation.

 

As a leader, I’m driven by values like hard work, goal orientation, and the desire to be the best I can be at anything I do. I strive to instill these same values in the youth I mentor through the Legend Pipeline Foundation. I’m committed to creating an environment of understanding and support, where every young person feels encouraged and valued as they work toward their goal.

 

My ultimate goal is to provide the guidance I wish I had when I was younger and to show kids that success is attainable—even without college—through alternative career paths like underground construction. Helping even one young person find their way in life would be personally fulfilling, but my vision is far greater: to help as many youth as possible break the cycle of poverty, avoid debt, and build bright futures.

 

Through my foundation, I aim to create lasting change—not just for the kids we help, but for our communities and the construction industry as a whole. Underground construction is essential to our country, and by empowering the next generation, we can ensure a sustainable future for all.
